The English Wikipedia is a source of templates for hundreds of other Wikipedias and sister projects. Often, templates are fully self-contained, so the process is easy: The contents are simply copied to a new template page at the other wiki, and everything works.
Templates are pages that allow editors to implement materials, repeated across many pages, with the same template. Templates are represented in wikitext by open and closed double curly brackets ( { { and }} ). They usually take parameters in the form of |parameter=, which can change the display, the text, and so on of a template.
Creation is simple: upon clicking a red link, you will be transported to a blank page. Once there, enter any text and then click the Publish changes button. That's it; the page should have been created. Many pages are created after a user sees an existing red link on a page, and then follows these steps.
Note: This method is a hack which does not work with all Wikipedia skins. For example, users of the Classic skin will have the links at the top of the page covered up by the title. Alternate title headers are headers that cover up the default header at the top of a page. The default title header has the name of the page in big bold letters.
