The University of Malawi College of Medicine ( UMCM ), also Malawi College of Medicine in Blantyre, is a constituent college of the University of Malawi, the oldest and largest public university in the country. The college houses the Faculty of Medicine of the University, and is the only medical school in Malawi. [ 1][ 2]
The University of Malawi was founded a few months after Malawi Independence. [1] The first enrollment consisted of 90 students in Blantyre. [1] Teaching began in 1965 in Blantyre, and within two years the Institute of Public Administration at Mpemba, the Soche Hill College of Education and the Polytechnic in Blantyre, and Bunda College in Lilongwe became colleges of the university.

Malawi Medical Journal. The Malawi Medical Journal is a quarterly general medical journal and is open-access and peer-reviewed. It is published by the University of Malawi College of Medicine and the Medical Association of Malawi. It was established in 1979 as the Medical Quarterly, obtaining its current name when it was relaunched in 1991. [1]
Henry Charles Mwandumba is an African Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Programme. He works on the tuberculosis phagosome in the University of Malawi College of Medicine, and serves as President of the Federation of African Immunological Societies. In 2019 Mwandumba was awarded the Royal Society Africa Prize .
He is a member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons. Borgstein is the current Secretary General of COSECSA, and previously served as the chairman of the college's Examinations Committee. [3] In July 2017, when Mercy James Institute for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care was established, Borgstein was appointed its medical director.

The University of Seychelles American Institute of Medicine (USAIM) - The agreement between the Government of the Seychelles and the University was terminated at the end of January 2011. A grace period up to April 2013 was granted, which allowed enrolled students to complete their studies.
