01/09/24 - 20:06 #13. Devices no longer supporting iPlayer etc is normally due to coding changes which the device in question either cannot support or might be capable of but its manufacturer does not issue an upate. Getting a Roku is the best soution as they are reasonably cheap and quite regularly so ar updated IME.
06/02/24 - 16:48 #1. Had a 'We notice you've been using iPlayer' email from TV Licensing. I don't have a TV License as the majority of what I watch is on Netflix/Prime/Now/etc. TV isn't even connected to an aerial and I don't use iPlayer, but according to the email their 'records show [I've] used BBC iPlayer on a number of occasions over recent ...

Current audio bitrates for BBC iPlayer TV is: 96kbps AAC 2.0 for 540p25. 720p50 & 1080p50 is 128kbps AAC 2.0 (There is no 25p streams for 720p or 1080p) 2160p25/50 is 192kbps AAC 2.0. The audio quality is shite, flat and lifeless. The excuse from BBC regarding incompatibility is comical.

Core of problem, buffering whilst using BBC iPlayer, which seems to be worst in first 30 minutes after connection, then settling down. The signal coming in to the router (supplied new a month ago) is excellent and stable, 70 Mbps, we have fibre to the house, and ...
S4C provides English commentary for selected matches via the red button. This Sunday for instance, the listings for Rugby at 12:50 and Football at 14:35 both state "English sound-track available via the red button on Sky, Freeview or Virgin Media". There doesn't appear to be a way to watch with English commentary via iPlayer however.
21 Jan 2024 10:58 AM. I have 2 Sky pucks and both do exactly the same thing as yours. Scroll down from All Channels and BBC iPlayer randomly starts. Pretty sure it's a bug that a firmware update should fix. I can't imagine Sky are not aware of this intermittent issue. Report post. Post 8 of 13.
