Community Expert , May 14, 2024. While an image editor is the best tool for this job, there are some Acrobat tools that can do a passable job. First go to Tools> Scan & OCR> Enhance> Camera Image> Enhance> Adjust level (+), this will remove most of the background. You can then use a preflight fixup to darken the midtones.
As you can see there is a low opacity image in the background of page which I selected (blue bounding box can be seen). It is present in each page. I can't remove this using tools like redact or background image remove or watermark because Acrobat pro DC 2021 can't detect it as watermark or as background image.
