    Both CurseForge and MultiMC are trusted and safe. CurseForge is owned by Overwolf, which is a trusted company partners like Intel and Ubisoft. MultiMC is also completely safe, and in fact this is the launcher I mainly use instead of the vanilla launcher. If you really don't trust MultiMC, take a look at it's source code here.

    First go to your curseforge folder and delete the install file. Then set you java version in curse to the latest. And set the argument. -version1.8+. Then repair vanilla installation using the top right three dots. Now your curse forge is the best launcher. Very simple to do. 1.

    Select any mod pack from the mod packs section of the CorseForge application and log in to the game.     The Curseforge app doesn't start if you're offline, but the Minecraft launcher does. If there's a way to launch Curseforge modpacks with the native launcher rather than through Curseforge, then that's the only way to do it if you're offline and don't have other 3rd-party launchers already installed. I'm going through that right now.
