Thermal has become an absolutely essential part of my creative and mixing processes. It’s a powerful tool for ‘filling sounds out’ so you don’t end up overcomplicating your arrangements looking for the ‘thing that’s missing’. The presets are really high quality, and the interface is very readable.

Sorry if you know this but just note that portal is a granular delay, not a granular synth. It is the same principle but works differently. Quanta is decent and I like it. Portal VST refusing to work on audio tracks suddenly. [VST] I’ve been working on this track for months and never had this issue but suddenly portal won’t work on the audio tracks I’ve thrown it on. Don’t just slap the portal in with 100% mix… that’s likely your problem. Put it on a return channel and mix it in, try the reverse knob, try automating the mix and or reverse knob, try putting multiple effects on top of each other with low % on the mix knob etc. Just stop being lazy creatively speaking and portal will be a great tool.
It's mediocre. Any granular synthesis plugin will give you very similar sounds. The ONE benefit of this granular synthesizer is that it has some pretty flexible time synchronization options. So it's slightly better for time-synchronized granular effects - but honestly these can be simulated with a delay anyway.
A few weeks ago I made a "plugin" based on Output's Portal using FL Studio's Patcher. Most of the creation of the patch was just adding modulation features and effects to make it more versatile; the rest was done using VSV Rack and a module inside it called Texture Synthesizer.
Portal VST is my new love. Easy all! Jumped on the Portal VST bandwagon this week and it's a trip. The glitchiness? Top-notch. Who else has given it a spin? Side note, my insta @daniel.aagentah has some new tools and stuff. How’d you get the waveforms and stuff in the middle?
