AA Limited, trading as The AA (formerly AA plc), is a British motoring association. Founded in 1905, it provides vehicle insurance, driving lessons, breakdown cover, loans, motoring advice, road maps and other services. The association demutualised in 1999, to become a private limited company, and from 2014 a public limited company (PLC).
Signs including Stop, Yield, No Turns, No Trucks, No Parking, No Stopping, Minimum Speed, Right Turn Only, Do Not Enter, Weight Limit, and Speed Limit are considered regulatory signs. Some have special shapes, such as the octagon for the Stop sign and the crossbuck for railroad crossings.
AA Roadwatch was the major supplier of traffic & travel information in Ireland from its establishment in 1989 until it ended abruptly in 2021. The AA used the Roadwatch brand to supply traffic information through live broadcasts, on RTÉ, Today FM and some local radio stations. It later added online and social media channels.
