We have used Lesco brand 8-2-12 fertilizer through John Deere Landscapes and now Site One for several years. For central and south Florida yards, it was a good product (California fertilizer needs are completely different from sandy, warm, rainy Florida). I received an order on Friday and was abo...

Apparently Lesco makes a huge number of "palm" formulations, and distribution is weird. So if I search for "Lesco Fertilizer" at the Raleigh NC store, I get 583 results. If I search for "Palm" and then select "fertilizer" in the category bar, there's about 10 Lesco shown. But all of them say "not available online in your area."

DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDE. Hello All, Last year I had posted regarding concerns I had relating to my (at the time) recently planted Adonidias. I am happy to say they are doing pretty well coming out of winter. One of the folks who responded, recommended Lesco Palm Fertilizer. I have now depleted my Sunniland Palm Fertilize...

It's just much safer to use an 8-2-12 fertilizer on a knee high palm without any unwanted salt burn. If you used a 13-3-13 Lesco fertilizer on small palm, you run the risk of burning the entire palm up. Jeff Wilson. SW Florida - 26.97 N 82 W. Port Charlotte, FL, United States. Zone 9b/10a.

Most of my older fronds are showing yellow spots. I use Lesco or Suregrow 8-2-12, but my house was build on muck-fill which is mostly sand. Looks like I may need Potassium (K). Lesco has a combo called K-Mag. What dosage is anyone using, as I'm always afraid to overdose with any suppliments! Thanks, you folks are great!

I think Lesco has gotten out of control with their prices in general. I used to go right to the Lesco store because they had a better variety. I was getting a general fertilizer something like 10-2-12 for about $20-25 for a 50# bag. Then I tried their palm special 8-2-12 but it was $39 for a 40# bag!

Mayo fertilizer here (they have a few different outlets) locally makes a palm specific formulated by the recommendations of UF IFAS that seems to be a little more well-rounded than Lesco. It is more marketed for us nursery folks but should work fine on any sort of application.

Location:Palmetto, FL. Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) An osmotic membrane based time release is far more efficient in delivering the nutrients -including micros- than the 8-4-8 vigoro in floridas wet climate and sandy soils. If it doesnt rain and you have clay based soil the use of such fertilizer is not an advantage.

I live in central Florida and had 4 Sylvester palms planted about 18 months ago. This palm started turning brown and the fronds don’t seem to be opening fully. Fertilizing with lesco and applying black cow. Watering with a bubbler 3 x a week. I’m having trouble finding an arborist to come out and help. Does anyone have any suggestions?
