In my darker moments, I can see an apocalyptic militia around the Great Lakes, protecting it from the hoards. But realistically, 20 years from now global warming will be worse - more people will be displaced by extreme heat, drought, and severe storms.
Chicago is culturally diverse and politically liberal, although perhaps less than it seems. We're still a blue city, but conversations with folks all across the spectrum will reveal moderate values and subtle (or sometimes not lol) prejudice. Chicago is a segregated city.

-The less crowded Chicago beaches are fun to visit(i.e. Hollywood, Loyola, Ohio, to name examples). If you go on an off-peak time, Foster and Montrose are also fun. I'd advise against visiting the latter 2 on holiday weekends, since the cops start to restrict the crowds and cars entering that park.
