I'm using the Alagard pixel font in an upcoming fantasy game. It's on OpenGameArt under a CC-BY license and looks good at 15 or 16 pixel line height. Reply reply
Hey so I'm working on a pixel art game (resolution 144x256) and need a pretty small font to display info. Everything I've tried so far isn't working on that small of a scale, it renders it super blurry. Even fonts that are supposed to be made for pixel. I turned off both mipmaps and the filter setting. I'm using .ttf files imported as a ...

A recent font post here reminded me that I had my own pixel font waiting to be finished and released, so here it is! It has support for most modern European languages, Korean, good support for Japanese, and pretty good support for Chinese (Simplified, and decent for Traditional).
The varied font sizes in the menu also look a little "off" with the pixel font. I prefer the other "fix" that simply uses the Japanese English letters. I feel it suits the hi-res menus and variable font sizes better.
The font contains support for a large number of languages that use the Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek alphabets, Korean (Hangul), and has good coverage of Japanese (all kana, all JIS level 1 kanji and many level 2 kanji) and Simplified Chinese (most common 3000+ characters) and partial support for Traditional Chinese (most common 1000+ characters).

Hey everyone! I'm here to give away free assets; specifically, the font you see in the above image (more to follow, maybe). It is derived from Google's Open Sans, rendered at 8pt size and regular weight. It covers the Windows-1252 character encoding and is provided as a bmp file ready for use with XNA and MonoGame.
Tutorial: creating a pixel font for your game. As mentioned in last week's Screenshot Saturday, I've spent a fair amount of time over the past couple weeks learning to use FontForge to design a custom pixelated font for my upcoming game, with custom fantasy lettering and RPG symbols. I thought I'd share what I'd learned, so here's a quick guide ...
