  2. BCD436HP/BCD536HP: How to Discover New Control Channel?

    forums.radioreference.com/threads/how-to-discover-new...

Uniden Representative - I think I see his point. In order to use trunking discovery you have to run that on a trunked system that is already set up and is scannable. But if the control channel changes then the discovery session will not have the proper control channel to scan, since it is now not the same, and nothing will be found.

If it's a P25 system, then all you need are the frequencies, entering them into a site. While you only need the control channel frequencies, until you know, for sure, which might be control, as well as alternates, I'd enter all of them. If, however, this is a DMR or NXDN system, you're going to need the LCNs (DMR) or channel numbers (NXDN).

  7. DSD+ and Airspy HF+ Discovery not being found?

    forums.radioreference.com/threads/dsd-and-airspy-hf...

The Discovery works just fine for the VHF band. It works well with SDR Console, SDR# and SDR++. The serial number being used is the one that is reported by SDR Console and SDR++ - SDR# reports only the first fifteen digits of the serial number, SDR Console and SDR++ report all 16 digits.

All control channel and voice channel frequencies. I have removed all duplicates as they are not needed in just a scanning mode. The second document in the Zip archive entitled, “voice_channels” is just that. It is all voice channel frequencies without duplicate frequencies or voice channel frequencies shared with a control channel. How many?

The final step is to locate the color code TG and time slot. Load the edited favorites list to the scanner and start the scanner up. Use the menu key to go to "discovery". Hit the "yes" key. Select 'trunking discovery" and hit 'yes". Select 'new session" and hit "yes". Rotate the main knob until the capital letter 'R" is displayed and hit "yes".

However, once you find a control channel frequency, you can use Unitrunker to ID the talkgroups and associated traffic channels for the system, and play audio for older protocols (but not P25 Phase 2.) SDR Trunk can play unencrypted P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 voice, but does not log as well as Unitrunker.

Hf + Discovery covers 0.5 kHz to 31 MHz plus 60 to 260 MHz R2 covers 24 – 1700 MHz native RX range, down to DC with the SpyVerter option. If your not into Hf, but more scanning trunked systems or anything else between 24 to 1.7Ghz, I would go with either the Airspy Mini (6 and 3 MSPS IQ output) or the Airspy R2 (10 MSPS IQ output with 2.5 ...
