The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California, United States, that runs from the Santa Barbara/Ventura county line [1] to Pasadena in Los Angeles County.It is the principal east–west route (designated north–south) through Ventura County and in the southern San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.
The Santa Ana Freeway was planned as a Los Angeles–Irvine connector in the late 1930s and constructed in phases, beginning with a section near Downtown Los Angeles that opened in December 1947. [ 126 ] [ 127 ] US 101 was later moved onto sections of the freeway, which was completed in 1958 and served as a continuation of the Hollywood Freeway.
The portion of US 6 from Inyokern to Los Angeles was designated SR 14. Previously, the SR 14 designation was used for Artesia Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, in the Los Angeles area, a portion of modern SR 91.
