  8. i found the solution! i had the same problem with my shuffle, turns out the buttons were disabled- how you fix that is by holding the "play/pause" button down for about 5 seconds until the light blinks green. was so angry my ipod hasn't been working for months now. hope everything works out!   11. For iTunes not opening automatically when the shuffle is connected, check the setting on the Settings tab that says Open iTunes when this iPod is attached. Make sure it is checked. For the battery not holding a charge, if it persists, you can try doing a Restore on the shuffle (from the shuffle's Settings tab in iTunes).
