I know it’s possible with desktop programs such as VLC, Legacy WMP, etc. but I am looking for a way to make the new Media Player app launch in full screen when opening video files. I know Win+Shift+Enter, F11 and double click all put it in full screen but I would like it to just launch that way.

Right click on your program, under "run" select normal window instead of maximized. Open your program and drag the edges to fill the screen or whatever size you want. When you close the program, Windows remembers the size. From then on, when you show your taskbar it will cover the bottom edge of window.
OS. Windows 11. Jun 4, 2024. #1. Typically I view my photos via File Explorer. My app 'Photos' has just suddenly started opening my pictures in minimised screen. Up until now it always opened in maximised screen (not full screen). I have tried stretching the window out to edge of screen and close using x at top right. It doesn't stick.
