If you zoom in you can see a few pixels of red next to the rips in E3. it might be hidden within the "rips" of the map fragments (bottom of E3). I've had that happen before. Part of the x might be obscured, i highly recommend turning on the high-contrast x's in the accessibility settings, it makes them white.
Look at your quest, and then go to your map on your ship. Scroll through the map until you find the island that matches the one on your quest. After a while you'll recognize them a lot easier. Your map table and your map wheel.
