So the median (50%) is somewhere between the 12.5% and 25% Euro ancestry marks. Like I said, probably high teens. And that plays out pretty consistently with the eye test when you look at random African American admixture profiles on 23andme and other sites. 12% - 20% is pretty normal, from what I've seen.

23andMe is more accurate when it comes to the DNA composition. You see, Ancestry rounds up or down, so some stuff they won't show you and their categories are all over the place and inconsistent. For example, AncestryDNA won't show the distant Malagasy and/or Native American DNA in African Americans if it's under 1% while 23andMe would.

23andMe's genetic communities are based on DNA matches and AncestryDNA's genetic communities are also based on DNA matches. The thing is, 23andMe doesn't make one for Americans. And AncestryDNA breaks down American ones and makes a bunch of genetic communities for American more than Caribbean and other foreign people. But it's the same method.

This was years ago and some people have said his test were not accurate at all. So make of that what you will. In 2018, Khloe, Kourtney and Kendall took a 23andMe DNA tests: Kendall Jenner (7/8th European American. 1/8th Anglo-Canadian): Caitlyn Jenner ( 3/4th European American, 1/4th Anglo-Canadian):

Hi, 23andme has identified my haplogroup as L3d1d. I've been trying to find detailed info on this haplogroup and there isn't much to go on. Hence how I ended up finding this post. We must be the two out of the 8,500.

I think it is best to pay to test with 23andMe and AncestryDNA than upload it to Living DNA, My Heritage, Family Tree DNA etc. African Ancestry isn't worth the money because we descend from quit a few tribes.

There's been many research studies done on African Americans. I've collected over 300 DNA results myself from youtube videos, genealogy sites, and from DNA matches and cousins across 23andMe ($199), AncestryDNA ($99), and FamilytreeDNA ($99). These companies are the best in the business (23andMe and AncestryDNA being the most accurate).
