Icy veins gives you a looser guidance and points you in a general direction. Maxroll says if you want to melt faces you do exactly THIS to min/max your output. They clearly label which builds are best for leveling, bossing, speed runs, and nightmare dungeon/Pit pushing.
Of course many people said they followed maxroll and it worked fine (as was my experience). People are now linking icy-veins builds as well, and being berated. It seems there's quite the conflict going on about what build domains and guides are solid and even legit for what they claim. My personal preference has been d4builds.
They have builds the other doesn't. For example, Maxroll has Druid Pulverize build, while Icyveins has druid pet build and landslide trample. Maxroll has 2 necro builds, Icy has 5. Also, on things like the pulverize druid build, they say don't worry about crit chance because of earthen might, then say to get it on the gloves.
Varies from build to build. The Icy Veins Bulwark Druid build is considered inferior to the mobileanalytics build for example. I’ve been using icy veins for like 10 yrs I don’t look anywhere else. Also he always does good write ups and is updating the builds. Some of the builds are gear dependent so look out for that.
I actually like mobalytics.gg better than icy veins and maxroll. That is my preference though. Not sure about the Blizzard build, but for BL, maxroll has seperate build recs for nmd pushing lower in the build section. Takes some of the offensive aspects/skills and changes more defensive.
I mostly use icy veins but i might start using maxroll cause rhykker metions it sometimes. Maxroll for sure. Maxroll is better and more accurate. Rhykker helped design it and frequently contributes to it, as do a cadre of high-level players of the games that site covers.
Icy Veins vs Wowhead. Just wondering what folks think of the spec guides on each. It's interesting to see that their recommendations differ quite a bit even where the same spec is concerned (for example, I play pulverize werebear druid and Wowhead recommends a totally different paragon board than Icy Veins). Which do you think tends to be more ...
The paragon 2nd board shown in the icy veins build doesn't seem to work - it says to use the Turf glyph & points into strength around it. Problem is, the red outline for area of effect around it is bigger in the diagram than when actually playing.
It seems like the guys have a lot of work to do there and I'm sure it will be (once again), the best resource for everything D4. 3. Icy Veins D4 Section. I know Icy Veins since I played WoW all those years. This resource is often hit or miss, but for D4, I found a lot of guides that are actually useful.
The whole build is visualized, first of all...and then the tooltips are much more complete. Combine this with much better web performance than Icy Veins and the superior Diablo guide is clearly Maxroll. I find navigating Icy Veins to be a little klunky and tedious. But it's not unworthy or anything.
