Just came across three rolls of quarters from the America the Beautiful collection (Blue Ridge Parkway, Homestead National monument of America and Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge) that all have an "S" mint mark. Does that mean that all of these quarters are silver? Wollygator, Aug 1, 2021.
Your' State Quarter could just be toned or plated as others have stated. However, the Mints experimented with different types (composition) of planchets when they were trying to come up with a planchet to use for the Sacagawea Dollars and they struck some of the planchets with 1999 State Quarter Dies (a few 2000 State Quarters were found as well).
It is an illustrated list of all US State Quarters released todate, with check boxes for the Denver and Philedelphia mintings of every coin. The images in the file seem to be making it gigantic. Probably overkill, but I wanted it to look nice.
State quarters need to be in MS65 grades or higher to be worth anything over face value. And those need to be slabbed. Proof state quarters in clad and silver are fairly inexpensive in graded plastic. As long as you stay with PF69DCAM. gronnh20, Mar 25, 2019.
dreamer94 Coin Collector. I purchased several sets of uncirculated state quarters from a mail order dealer. They came in individual 2X2 cardboard holders. I stored them in a cardboard box. A few months after I received them, I put them into a Dansco album. I noted that several of them (it turns out to be the ones on the top of each stack of 2X2 ...
More feedback. Coin_Collector said: ↑. I found a slightly off center struck 1999-P Connecticut State Quarter (no big deal) the other day but noticed that there was something else odd about it. After further inspection, I found various doubling and letter errors on the coin. The words "States" & "America" as well as the "P" mint mark show ...
These Experimental State Quarters have sold for as high as $10,000 each, depending on which state, the coin's condition and which type of experimental composition was used. There are four known types of experimental compositions which have been discovered so far on 1999 State Quarters. Type #1 - This type has the "color" of a Sacagawea Dollar ...
Rosalita Active Member. Hi guys, I noticed on this 1999 P Georgia State Quarter that there are multiple errors on the reverse. Would like some help verifying what they are. I see the Reverse of the coin has a MAD with a rim fin, a die chip in the "D" of Wisdom, a die crack in the ribbon above the "M" in Wisdom, and another issue at the very end ...
I was wondering if anyone has seen this many screw-ups on one State quarter. Looks like Lava coming down Chimney Rock on the right. Just beneath the "K" in the word Rock is what looks like a misplaced "C" And a small Cud at about 10:00 on the Sun. Also I was wondering if anyone had a ball park figure on a value for something like this.
Welcome! Coin roll hunting is a fun and inexpensive way to enter the hobby. I would especially look for 1982 and 1983 Quarters in higher (uncirculated) grades. Those are the two years where there were no official US Mint Sets (only souvenir sets, which are fairly expensive). So those two dates are harder to find.
