October 31, 2012. Designated VLR. September 18, 2008 [2] Holliday Lake State Park is a state park located within the confines of Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest in Virginia. The land was cleared as farmland in the 1880s before being returned to its forested state in the mid-20th century. Today, the park is known for its fishing opportunities.
The state park uses the double L spelling "Holliday", after the family that owned land in the area. One of the three creeks that fills adjacent man-made lake in the area is also spelled "Holliday Creek" for the same reason. Some sources call the lake "Holliday Lake", while some online maps refer to it as "Holiday Lake".
