  2. There is one thing you can try to see unread emails. I recommend you to enable unread email first on the page. For this. Open Gmail account. Go to Settings on Gear icon. Under Inbox tab, next to Inbox type, choose Unread first. Below this choose the number of emails you wish to see which are unread. Save the Changes. I hope this helps!

Once configured, it will always display all your unread emails at the top of the list! If you do this search repeatedly or generally appreciate brevity, you can use "l:unread" or even "l:^u" instead of "is:unread" (or "label:unread"). Of course, you can combine the quest for unread messages with others: "l:^u l:^k subject:hi" finds all unread ...

52.8k. You can only mark blocks of 100 messages at the time. Use browse function to choose different blocks and find your unread message, up to the right. (Ex: "< 1 to 100 of 432 >") I tried the above but got too many messages in the SPAM filters that Gmail does for you but this search string worked to find the single culprit: By clicking ...

Up until two days ago, my "Inbox" in Gmail has only shown unread emails at the top, with the read ones being shown somewhere near the bottom. For some reason, this has changed. While my "Inbox" tab still shows "32" next to it, on the right hand side I can now see all emails, including unread ones.

From Gmail Keyboard shortcuts help: * then u. One trick I've recently figured out is if you first collapse your "Important and Unread" section (by clicking on it), THEN do the *u, it will leave your important messages unchecked. Previous to this I was unchecking all my Important/Unread messages before archiving.

  8. How can I only search the Primary inbox in Gmail?

    webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/47313

Doesn't look like the "category" filter knows how to filter to the "Primary" inbox, but you can do it by excluding the other categories like so: in:inbox -category:(updates OR promotions OR social OR forums) Or, to show just unread messages in the "Primary" inbox: in:inbox -category:(updates OR promotions OR social OR forums) is:unread

  9. I'm using the Priority Inbox, and want to add a Section with only unread messages from a label. The section dropbox allows me to select a label, but shows all messages in the label (including read ones). Earlier I was using the "Multiple Inboxes" from Gmail Labs which allows for creation of an Inbox section using a custom search.

  10. 5. In Gmail, all of your messages always go to "All Mail", hence its name. What you seem to be experiencing is that some of your incoming messages are skipping the Inbox. What is most likely happening is that you have a filter that includes the action "Skip the Inbox (Archive it)". "Archive" is just a special action which removes the "inbox ...

  11. How can I filter my Gmail messages that aren't labeled?

    webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/275

One way you can do it is by using the minus operator on the label operator. So for example: -label:tag-a -label:tag-b -label:tag-c. or for one-word tags: -label:{taga tagb tagc} This is probably only practical if you don't have a lot of labels. Additionally, if they don't change often, you can include a link to this search so that it easily ...
