    Gen 2 was supposed to be the end for Pokemon, so they did the 2 regions to give the "complete pokemon experience". Half-right. Gen 2 was supposed to be the end for Pokemon - but the reason why they did two regions wasn't to give the complete experience. Originally, Gen 2 was only supposed to be just Johto.

    Please note - generation 1 and 2 titles on the Gameboy and Gameboy Color systems will not transfer up unless you’ve purchased and played them on the Nintendo 3DS virtual console. There's also the part where, if they haven't been maintaining the batteries in their original gen 1/2 games, then the saves are likely long gone, unfortunately.

    Crystal Clear, mostly because of the open world. If we are talking about Gen 2 games, my favourite will definitely be Polished Crystal. If we are talking about Johto in general, however, my vote would definitely go to Sacred Gold/Storm Silver, two awesome hacks by Drayano.

    Gen 2(A mess): Crystal Dust: Said to be the best remake on the gen 3(Emerald in specific) engine at the moment. Developed by DoMoreAwesome. Unfinished, the latest version leads up to the Sudowoodo event. Version 2 was released in 2013 and was left dormant for 7 years until version 3 was released in 2020.

    Gen 2: Best- Cyndaquil. Quilava is my favorite pokemon of all time, and fire is usually my go-to for starters Worst- Totodile. I just like Chikorita too much. Gen 3: I'm not very familiar with this generation, so based on looks alone: Best- Torchic Worst- Treecko Gen 4: Best- Turtwig. I love the little guy. Sue me. Worst- Piplup.

    Girafarig is very useful, especially since you get him right before the Ghost Gym. His Psychic/Normal typing makes him OP against Morty. Miltank. Despite its notoriety in this gen, it's still a solid team member. Plus you can use Milk Drink on your other team members to save money on Potions.

Yeah it has a few unown secret rooms, the girl player character, slightly animated sprites and a few pokemon like sneasel can be gotten earlier than originally.
