Pros - Hamilton is known for its strong academics across a wide range. For a small Liberal Arts college it is strong in Math and Sciences, Economics and English/Writing, among others. It has an open curriculum and allows students the freedom to design some of their own majors/concentrations.
Hamilton does try to attract diversity and sponsors the posse foundation- a scholarship program to attract and support inner-city kids. I really appreciate all the thoughtful input I have gotten on CC so far. My d23 is about to pull trigger on ED2 to Hamilton. Would love to hear any positives or negatives from any parents or students who attend/attended. Also would love to hear from those who chose Hamilton (what other schools you were considering ) or almost chose Hamilton and where they ended up instead! Many thanks!

123France December 17, 2023, 12:33pm 9. My son, who graduated from Hamilton in '22, was a Jan admit. He applied ED1, admitted as a Jan and wasn’t happy. He then applied to three other colleges but ultimately decided on Hamilton. He went to London with approximately 40 other “Jans” and had a wonderful experience.

Hamilton graduates register slightly higher early career earnings than those from Amherst. Hamilton administers study abroad programs in China, France and Spain, as well as domestic programs in the Adirondacks; New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Boston. I’m less familiar with Amherst’s direct programs.
