Also, if you use Steam, if you try to launch an EA game after doing this and it asks you if it can make changes on your computer, say no, because it wants to install the EA app again. If you say no, it will load the game using the old Origin version you downloaded.
It didn't work at first when I opened it but when I redownloaded origin and it prompted me with the EA app download this time it prompted me to just open the app and now its working for me. It's great how I have to be searching through pages of forums to find a fix to an issue that has been around for years and EA provide basically no support.

Sims 3 not launching with the EA app. Is this happening to anyone else? I got the EA app a while ago but I haven’t had any motivation to play until recently. EA forced me to replace the Origin app with the EA app. None of the Battlefront II apps would work inside the game after launching the game with the EA app. Tried various methods to solve the problem. One method was to use both FrostyFix and a subsequent .dll replacement.
Having the same issues myself. It used to work, but I haven't installed any of the ea games in a while and now it's not working. It does update the EA app when you refresh libraries but it doesn't add the games
Zero Hour mods not working with new EA App (instead of Origin) So I got a new PC and not Origin is no longer available, it has been replaced by the EA App. I installed C&C Generals Zero Hour and then installed the "Rise of the Reds mod". The installation goes smoothly. Now I have a Rise of the Reds icon which opens the launcher.
