  2. 1986-87 Fleer Basketball pack question — Collectors Universe

    forums.collectors.com/discussion/843553/1986-87-fleer-basketball-pack-question

January 17, 2012 8:52PM. There are two sequences inside an 86-87 Fleer pack. The sequences go in opposite directions of one another. So for instance, if the top card, Abdul Jabbar Is #1 your third card will be card #2 Alvin Adams. Now the second card will be random and will go in descending order.

I've been reading other discussions about this subject. I purchased 2 packs recently and was able to identify Gerald Wilkins on top. The pack has been not tampered with.

Then another pack had a Kansas City Royals card on back. In 1986, it wasn’t all that important to get it completely correct on the printing. Remember, this stuff was worthless garbage. It probably was at some point they were printing Fleer Basketball Stickers and the Fleer Baseball Stickers (probably came in the 1986 Fleer baseball update set).

1986 Fleer Basketball is the #1 pack to NEVER buy raw on ebay, it's that simple! I learned by buying 3 or 4 packs and that was 5+ years ago. 1979/80 Gretzky RC is probably the #2 resealed wax pack that I would not buy raw.

For the past 30+ years, we have bought, sold, and authenticated countless packs/boxes of 1986/87 Fleer Basketball. Over the last few days there has been a lot of talk in the industry about a 1986/87 Fleer Basketball BBCE box broken on the main stage at the 2022 National by WhatNot.

Your chance of getting a clean, ungraded 1986 Fleer pack on Ebay are basically nil. Buy from BBCE or a GAI graded pack (original flip not the new one). If the seller had a real box or partial box he would get more selling it to a reputable dealer then selling packs individually on Ebay. Robb

March 28, 2022 4:40PM. When I opened mine in 1986 I pulled three Jordans. One had a factory wrinkle - of course, the only card in the box that had that issue. Still, the other two were really nice. Collecting Topps, Philadelphia and Kellogg's from 1964-1989.

This set and in particular the Jordan RC still seems to be plummeting. A recent PWCC Jordan PSA 10 sold for a "mere" $28k. A recent BBCE wax box sold for a "mere" $54k in Collect Auctions.

I don’t know a ton about them, but they aren’t from fleer. They’re a repackaged product that came in a box with I believe 3 racks. You can find rips of the boxes out on YouTube. The condition of the cards seems to actually be half decent. I’ve seen mention of 1000 boxes of them created, but no idea if that’s verifiable.

Mathematically I believe there is a 1:11 chance. 132 cards in the set and 12 cards in each pack. HOWEVER, as Dr. J. stated, if someone knows the sequence (and many do) all you would need to know is the card on the front and/or back to figure out if Jordan is in the pack. I'm not saying everyone is trying to screw you, but just be careful.
