Basic Checks: Battery: Make sure the battery is fully charged and securely connected. Try using a different Dewalt 20v battery if available to see if the issue persists. Power Switch: Ensure the power switch is turned on completely. String Trimmer Head: Check if the trimmer head is jammed with debris or tangled string.
It would be best to send it to a Qualified Dewalt Technician to fix your motor....they do understand that the motor is not exactly that same when it comes to a Type 1 or Type 12...and they would, I assume, know what to do in order to fix your motor. I did manage to fix my motor...with some concerns.
It seems DeWALT has dedicated DCS350-DCS359 model numbers to Oscillating Multi Tools. First they started with DCS355 exactly from the middle of this range, after a few years almost at the same time one number below (DCS354 Atomic) and one number above (DCS356 three speed option) was released and now DSC533 12V version is released.
The DeWALT instructions provided w/ every tool are very clear. They also make sense. The printed instructions state: "Do not store or use the tool and battery pack in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed 104 °F (40 °C) (such as outside sheds or metal buildings in summer). For best life store battery packs in a cool, dry location."
DC720KA, is Dewalt's most current compact 18v drill. You are correct about the updated grip, however it now has a frame-less motor, rather than a canned style on the DC759/DC970. This creates two benefits. A lighter weight and more compact drill, and a more efficient running motor.
