Blank maps derived from OMC. A web interface by Martin Weinelt – It generates maps using GMT (The Generic Mapping Tools), from public domain vector data. The resulting maps should be in the public domain. These maps show elevation and main rivers, but no modern boundaries.
The use of JPEG is discouraged, since it is a lossy compression format and so will result in a blurry map or diagram. The quality of GIF images is better than JPEG. GIF images allow for the creation of animations. PNG is a lossless, truecolor image format. It is good for all maps and particularly for maps with more than 256 colours.

World map. A world map is a map of most or all of the surface of Earth. World maps, because of their scale, must deal with the problem of projection. Images composed of simple shapes, lines, and letters such as those below should be recreated using vector graphics as an SVG file. These have a number of advantages, such as making it easier for subsequent editors to edit them, enabling arbitrary scaling at high quality, and sharp high-resolution renderings for print versions.
