    Disable the Protected Mode in Acrobat Reader. For an unknown reason, the printing problem in Acrobat Reader may appear, if the "Protected Mode at startup" setting is enabled. To turn off the "Protected Mode at startup": 1. Open the Acrobat Reader DC program and from the Edit menu choose Preferences.

    Right click on the PDF document in the window, select "take a snapshot", then select the window you want to "snapshot", boom! it selects it and the program does a "snapshot".     Open a PDF in Acrobat. In the toolbar a the top, right-click in an empty space near the Up- and Down-Arrow buttons (the Show Previous Page and Show Next Page buttons). A popup with submenus will appear. Go to the Show Page Navigation Tools submenu. Select First Page, which will add the First Page button to the toolbar.

    It just takes up space for the 99% of Acrobat users who only want to view/print PDF's, not do anything else with them. It should be "off" by default when the software is first installed, but that's a separate discussion. And Adobe could do a much better job of explaining how to hide it (like a checkbox on the pane itself).

    That has allowed me to use the software but with some small glitches. I just solved this problem the PDF file itself has corrupted it wasn't Acrobat. Try a mouse right-button click and hold on the file name (in your File Explorer) to open a sub-menu, and the select "Open With" and then select "Adobe Acrobat".

    No thanks to the Adobe experts, but thanks to users who spend time trying to fix Adobe's mess, I found the solution. Deleting the settings in the registry made my Acrobat Reader respond normally again. I changed Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC1
