29 May 2014 at 12:31AM. Today I changed my Nationwide select credit card PIN and when I put my credit card into my card reader I get a wrong card message. Before I changed my PIN, when I logged into my online Nationwide account I got the choice of using my credit card or my debit card, now I just get the option to use my debit card.

I use Worldpay Zinc, but on an older contract. I pay 65p for debit card transactions and 3.3% for credit card transactions.

However, a card is issued to an individual and should only be used by that individual. With a joint account more than one card is issued and each person is supposed to use only their own card/PIN. It is a breach of Ts&Cs to allow someone else to use ones card.

Also currently the tradesman says he will only accept debit card ie bank transfer or cash - is it not ok to pay a uk tradesperson by credit card ie once its cleared its been paid - no matter whether a person defaults on their credit card in the future as far as I understand. I not likely do that in anyways either but just wanted it clarified ...

  8. Bank Card Readers - all the same? - MoneySavingExpert Forum

4 December 2010 at 6:05PM. IMHO, the card readers may be a bit more subtle than that. although the technology is shared by several of the banks (for instance a Natwest card is recognised by a Nationwide labelled reader) try authorising a transaction with the "wrong" reader. or if you want a worry, google "optimised to fail" and read the (2meg ...

  9. Paying a tradesman with a credit card - MoneySavingExpert Forum

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/.../6362696/paying-a-tradesman-with-a-credit-card

Ask your tradesman. You can’t pay him using your credit card if he does not have the facilities to take credit cards. If he's given you his account number and sort code then pay him by bank transfer. It's all a bit academic if he doesn't accept credit card payment.

  10. RBS card readers: can we get rid of them? - MoneySavingExpert...

    forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1791711

RBS would probably tell you that you are responsible for any losses on your account becuase you refuse to use their security system. with rbs you only need the card reader to set up a NEW payment or payee, or amend it. If you just want to make a payment to an existing payee, then they wn't ask for the card reader.

From March this year until a week ago I was using it with few problems ...
