I had the same problem because I logged into my Delta account and it simply would NOT update my credit card details. I must have tried a zillion ways. In the end, I booked the flight without logging in, adding the credit card details in the payment section.
Problem is that the airfare will be over $1,200 dollars and Delta's site states if fare if over $1K I cannot use Delta's credit card towards that flight. It appears Delta's site will not let me use two separate credit cards to pay fare. therefore would still need to spend additional $1K in order to receive $200 credit on my statement.
As a result, I cannot use a Delta voucher towards future travel (personal travel departing from the client site). When purchasing a flight through the online portal of that travel agency, the purchase details show up as follow on my AMEX credit card statement: DELTA AIR LINES INC. JACKSONVILLE FL. TKT# xxxxxxxxxxxxx AIRLINE/AIR C.
First, IME, Orbitz lets DL charge your card directly for the fare portion of the transaction. Second, the DL credit card bit is simply based on you having the card, not using it for the purchase. If you can log into your SkyMiles account and it says you have the credit card, you get all the perks, regardless of how you bought the ticket. Reply.
