Postal services were first directly organised in Singapore in 1826, and from 1829 rectangular postmarks began to be used on local correspondence.

Revenue. Malaysia issued its first general duty revenue stamps in 1975, inscribed Hasil Malaysia (Revenue Malaysia) and depicting the country's coat of arms.
