The Faculty of Economics within the University of Mitrovica "Isa Boletini" (UMIB) started its work in the academic year 2013-14 in two directions: Banking Finance and Accounting; Management and Informatics as the academic unit of the UP in Prishtina. Whereas, in the academic year 2014-15, it started as an independent academic unit within the UMIB.
Isa Boletini ( Albanian: [isa bolɛˈtini]; 15 January 1864 – 23 or 24 January 1916) was an Albanian revolutionary commander and politician and rilindas from Kosovo . As a young man, he joined the Albanian nationalist League of Prizren and participated in a battle against Ottoman forces. After this, he built a power base in the Mitrovica area.
The two Isa Boletini towers are located in Boletin village. The first tower (men's tower) was built in 1887 by the father of Isa Boletini, Adem Boletini. It was destroyed in 1899 by the Ottoman invaders because Isa had built the first Albanian school on the region. Most of the battles happened in this tower.
