I'm in the process of filing for Chapter 7. The only decision left is whether I decide to reaffirm on my car loan with Santander. I currently owe $5800.00 still on a 2008 Kia Spectra which was financed back in March,2010 @20.9% interest. My last payment would be March 2014. The car is in pretty go...
Years ago we hit hard times and our auto loan went delinquent with Santander(purchased in 2012, went delinquent I think in 2014).During that time we were sent a settlement letter but didn't have the funds. They never came to get the vehicle. We've tried reaching out to pay off the vehicle multiple t...

They were reporting inaccurate info about me even though they never had my loan. My loan was originally with Citi Auto and the 0 balance loan account was sold to Santander AFTER it was paid off. Guess what, Santander reported a CO in 2010 even though I never had a loan with them and the original loan with Citi was paid off in 2009.
The interest rate on my auto loan is 12.90%.On my statement, it shows the Total Amount Financed is $20,364.75. I paid $17k for the car tt&l.
I believe Santander will apply the extra payment to the principal. This should be a simple interest loan so you should be reducing your principal each month by the additional $50. Google, 'additional payment calculator auto loan' and this will give you some calculators that will show you what your extra $50 will yield.

Just a word of advice w/ Santander.. If you have Auto-Pay setup, make sure you double check your account when it comes to the final payment! I made all payments on time throughout the life of the loan, and the final payment was taken off of auto-pay.
