The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio. It conducts state championship competitions in all the OHSAA-sanctioned sports.

"Art" Johlfs—who originally started naming champions informally in 1927 as a 21 year old high school coach and official, [2] but did so more formally starting in 1959 [3] after enlarging his network of supporting hobbyists [2] to receive reports from six separate areas of the country.
