The Photos widgets in macos Sonoma 14.0 display as gray with the words "No photos available." The problem applies to both Featured and Album widgets. Clicking on the desktop widget opens Photos and its default library. All content is present in the app and the app works fine.
Well, in fact, Windows Photo Viewer is available on all Windows 10 including 21H2 and on Windows 11, too. The main problem, that it is hidden, and cannot be chosen from Open With context menu. To achieve this I would recommend to read the following article by Ashwin.
It just says "No content available" and when I tap the widget, it takes me to photos with no option to add a photo to the widget. There's also no option when you tap and hold the widget. I have seen this asked in a few places and Apple aren’t answering. It seems like the widgets that are built in aren’t worth using.

I am trying to add a photo album into a power point presentation. Every thing I have looked up tells me to go to the insert tab, then image, then select photo album. I HAVE NO PHOTO ALBUM OPTION!
