Using your own drone to inspect your own roof counts as commercial. But I wanted to get my new FPV insured (the DJI policy is way too expensive), so I checked with the local State Farm agent.

It cvovers damage to by any cause and loss of the drone. Liability insurance is provided by your Homeowners or Renters policy and any umbrella policey you may carry.
Go with a 3rd Party like State Farm Drone Insurance and you're covered all around with all the DJI hassles. Probably cheaper than DJI as well. If anyone can get a 3rd party insurance, WHY would you get the more expensive and less covered DJI Refresh?
DJI Care Refresh only supports aircraft purchased from official or authorized channels, and its benefits are only eligible in the region where it was purchased." So if you are buying used from an individual you cannot get Refresh. You don't mention where you live, but in the states you could try State Farm.

SF is about $65-$75 a year and covers A-Z, including theft. That will not be covered in Refresh or probably any other "replacement coverage" policy.
It's about $100 a year. You can then take it wherever you want to and know that it's covered if lost in transit or destroyed by you on vacation in another country. I really dont think youll find a month's worth of insurance on a $2k drone for cheap in any way. However, the State Farm gig is quite reasonable.
The DJI is fine, but as cheap as State Farm typically is; no reason to spend more for insurance than you have to and DJI is usually more. I never used my "Refresh" I had on my Air2 - but had it before finding State Farm and a few others had drone insurance. Sadly, my carrier - USAA - does not offer it and won't cover under homeowners / etc.

I would ditch both Best Buy and DJI's plan, and go for State Farm drone insurance. For $79/year, your Mavic 3 is covered for all damage scenario (including fly away ...

Jun 3, 2023. #3. Like @Yorkshire_Pud says, some repairs are about the same as the Care Refresh cost. I recently had an Air 2S in for repair and the Care Refresh was $119 and the repair cost was $131 so a difference of $12. It really depends on how badly mangled your drone is, most of the repair costs are pretty reasonable.
