I applied in store when I had a score of 715 and got the 7-10 day response. I work retail and know that usually means that the app didn’t get approved so I didn’t hold out hope. Three days later I get a call from the Target credit department. They verified my address + my social and then I was approved.

This card provides 5% off at Target instantly and 2% back when used at dining and gas stations and 1% back on every other swipe. The rewards can only be redeemed in the form of a Target Giftcard and at a minimum amount of 10.00. I couldn't find a post about this so wanted to make one to let everyone know.
With the news recently of people getting CLI and upgraded to the Mastercard I decided to apply for the Target card a few days ago. Got the 7-10 message, assuming it was a denial. Today I get a surprise phone call from a phone number 800-318-8433 and she left a voicemail saying shes from Target and please call back.

Secondly, if you’re just looking for the 5% discount by using the card, you might look into the Target debit card. You’d still get the same 5% discount that the credit card offers. Lastly, the issuing banks want to issue cards just as much as consumers want to get them. The banks don’t make money by not having their cards in consumers hands.

If you get the 7-10 day message and want to call to see if they just need to verify any information, here is the number you can call: 1-888-316-6145 between 7 a.m. and 12 midnight CT.
Figured it was a no-go, but then Target called me 3 days later to verify my identity: the CS asked me public records questions and sent me a text message, then said I would hear back in 7-10 days. I received a letter asking me to fax-in my DL and a utility bill, which I did, and a week later (today) the card arrived in the mail! Data Points:
