Every bank has a certain cool down period between apps. Discover lets you apply every 7 or 10 days (can't remember which) if you want to. Others, are longer. I dont know how long Synchrony makes you wait. Maybe someone will post what it is. You should work on your credit profile a bit after a denial. If you keep trying, it will just hurt you more.

For whatever it's worth, after I received the instant approval, at the bottom is stated that the card would arrive in 7-10 days and would need to be activated before it could be used and that I would have to use an alternate method of payment until then and there was a 'Continue Shopping' button right after that.

Our policy is that we won't verify much over the phone, mainly just confirming that the employee works for us and his/her position.

I don't think it's anal to have a plan. In particular folks who are rebuilding may have some cards that are more important to them than others, so a triple pull may not be great timing wise.
