  2. BBC News and BBC World News to merge — Digital Spy

    forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/2429647

This merger of BBC News and World News will also affect the sports bulletins as they wouldn't be able to show clips of sporting events not televised by the BBC (for example, French Open Tennis, Formula 1 and various football matches), like they would if bulletins were UK only, due to the Sports News access agreement.

Sports Personality of the Year has been shunted from its prestige Sunday night slot to the midweek boondocks. Even Football Focus looks vulnerable, with its average viewing figures having fallen to just 564,000 since Alex Scott took over from Dan Walker in 2021. Across the board, the old flagships are listing badly.

22/05/17 - 22:08 #5. They will cover any major sport story in the main BBC1 bulletins. Just like they cover the major news stories. They only have 25 mins or so. But, of course, everyone can get the News Channel and they have (IIRC) one short and one long sports news segment most hours. Ginger Daddy Posts: 8,507.

One of the downsides for the BBC merging the domestic and world channels together. Domestic news channel could show Olympic footage because the BBC has UK rights, World couldn't because of course the BBC didn't have worldwide rights. It was delayed by, what, about 20 minutes.

  8. BBC and Sport — Digital Spy

Most people can receive bbc4 and it saves all this switching from one channel to another. They can put all their Sports on bbc4 and use bbc2 If there is more than one live sport on and BBC iplayer. This moving programmes from one channel to another is stupid. The ratings would be smaller as it's further down the EPG.

  9. Isn’t it time the BBC had a dedicated Sports Channel?

    forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/2432327

26/07/22 - 14:22 #15. It’s been an unusually busy year with lots of sport events in the Summer and the football WC in November and December, in a more typical year though the BBC would have hardly anything live to show on a dedicated sports channel for long periods. mavreela Posts: 4,991.

BBC Sports Personality 2024. There are quire a few contenders from the Olympics for Overseas personality. She was probably the least celebrated of the 4 in the media, but for me Sifan Hassan gave the most amazing performance at the Olympics. She may "only" have won the 1 gold, but to win bronze in both the 5000m and 10000m and then gold in the ...

  11. Advertising on BBC sports news — Digital Spy

(I normally stop watching when sports comes on, but I was tired so I watched it.) I can accept that a lot of sports coverage may feature advertising because it’s part of the stadium, but this was clearly deliberate advertising — the banner had massive big BBC logos going across it.
