He first appeared in the 2005 video game God of War, which led to the development of eight additional titles featuring the character as the protagonist.
He steps down as the Norse God of War, but in Ragnarök ' s DLC Valhalla, he invites Kratos to Valhalla to go through trials in order to confront his past, and after several sparring sessions between Kratos and Týr, Kratos makes peace with his past and becomes the new Norse God of War on Freya's council. The character is voiced by Ben Prendergast.
