Duke Energy Sucks. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with Duke Energy trying to determine why my bill has $72.54 in Rider Adjustments. Rider adjustments are billed at $0.21812 per kWh and actual electricity is billed at $0.11661 per kWh for the first 800 kWh and $0.10661 for every kWh afterward. Rider adjustments are, put simply, Duke's cost of ...

Retail energy rider is Duke’s cost of supply. If you look to the right where it says “cost to compare” they give you the per kWh cost you can compare to other suppliers. Other suppliers can be half the cost of Duke. But regardless you are using 3 times as much as we are. Turn down the thermostat and look for leaks at windows/doors.

Currently, we have a Fixed Residential Plan at 11.661 cents per kWh. And WE fluctuate between 400 in spring to 1400 kWh in peak summer with an average of around 675 kWh. I'm on Duke Energy and my peak usage billing month year-to-date was August. Both July's and September's bills are lower by about 200 kwH. As others mentioned, you probably have something wrong (likely AC). My energy bill is about $100 more than last year. This is a 40% increase in my bill.

Duke Energy no longer charges a fee to pay with a credit card. I had heard the Public Service Commission a while back was going to require utilities to remove credit card fees for bill payment, and I'd been watching for this to take effect. Not sure when they put it in place, but it is working now. Paid my Duke bill today with no additional fee ...

Funny that Duke Energy is allowed to control who and how many residences can have solar in NC thus denying the citizens a lower cost, more environmentally friendly energy source. Pretty sure the energy oligarchy is a failure that combines the absolute worst of government and the private sector. Reply reply.

Duke Energy-Clean Energy Connection? Discussion. I keep getting emails from Duke about signing up for their clean energy connection. What is the catch? It doesn’t seem like there’s any real savings for me as a customer. Even with the highest tier it says in 10 years I’ll see $2.20 a month savings. What’s the point in this?
