Retail energy rider is Duke’s cost of supply. If you look to the right where it says “cost to compare” they give you the per kWh cost you can compare to other suppliers. Other suppliers can be half the cost of Duke. But regardless you are using 3 times as much as we are. Turn down the thermostat and look for leaks at windows/doors.

I'm on Duke Energy and my peak usage billing month year-to-date was August. Both July's and September's bills are lower by about 200 kwH. As others mentioned, you probably have something wrong (likely AC). My energy bill is about $100 more than last year. This is a 40% increase in my bill.

Appliances came with the house and are relatively new. Duke Energy said last tenant's average bill for 2023 was $270. Kid's first bill is $590 with 4,900 kwh usage for the part of the month they were there. They are currently tracking daily 300 kwh usage so on track for 9,300 kwh for the full month.
