    Before sending it anywhere you need to get an exact weight for it (yes that will require opening the set up). If it weighs 11.5 grams then you are in luck and the coin should be forwarded to NGC, PCGS, ANACS, or ICG for authentication and encapsulation, but if it weighs 11.34 grams then it is CU-NI and it just looks differ

    I have purchsed a pair of Denver and Philadelphia mint sets from PCS (a reputable coin seller). The Kenedy half dollar in the Denver mint is missing the mint mark (D) below the bust. It looks just like the Philadelphia Kenedy half dollar. It is still sealed so there is no evidence of it being tampered with. shansen94524, Apr 19, 2009.

    Typically, 1971, 1972, 1974, 1974, 1977, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1988, 1989 have some nice varieties but with some, you'll have to look close. Each time I get half dollars from the bank, I carefully screen each of the above years regardless of wear or damage. But then, you'd then be getting into a specialty market.

    Michael K Well-Known Member. A 40% silver Kennedy, does not have the copper showing on the edge. If you look at the 40% Kennedy's (1965-1970) they all have a white edge. There must be some new video making the rounds with all of the. foreign planchet, and wrong planchet threads recently.

    1. Nickel clad maintains luster better...cool. 2. Reeded edges, especially on coins with more copper and less nickel, wear extremely fast. 3. Slot machines and other coin based machines, as the coin slide through the counter and track, wear the edges much faster.
