The route diagram templates encompass a main container, named { { Routemap }} or { { BS-map }}, and its auxiliary templates [1], most of them having BS (German: BahnStrecke) at the root of their name. This system provides a uniform layout for route-map infoboxes, mainly for railway lines but also for other modes of transport such as waterways.
This template is used for referencing maps published by AOL, Inc. through their Mapquest service. This template is based on {} so it falls into the Citation Style 1 (CS1) series of templates, although it can be set to emulate CS2 style. Note that unlike paper maps, Mapquest offers dynamic sizing at variable scales.
