In the previous word version, there is a button to convert traditional chinese to simplified chinese. But in MS 365 Office Word, only the "translate" button is left. The problem of "translate" button is that, it is not a direct conversion of the character from tradtional chinese to simplified chinese, translatIion will be involved.
1. Press "Settings" (gear symbol) from Start menu. 2. When the Settings app is displayed, click on "Time & language" (time, and letter symbol). 3. After Time & Language settings screen is on the display, switch to "Region & language" tab (second from above). On this screen click "Add a language" (+ symbol) to add the English language.

At the top of the program are 7 Menu Itams. Counting from left to right, click the 4th menu and then click the second item in that menu. That will change the program language to English. That gets stored in the program settings and the program will stay in English. Dave M.
Conversion between Traditional Chinese characters and Simplified. In older versions of Word (Traditional Chinese version), there is a toolbar button that can convert Traditional Chinese characters to the Simplified equivalent. However, it seems like on English versions of Word, this feature is not available even in 2016 version.
