Password is right and also the imap settings are also correct, I double check from outlook settings
It seems that the interval between queries of the client maybe part of the issue. When I use a 20 min interval I still get periodic issues. When I use a 30 min interval I have not had an issue. Well that notion went out the window. I set a the client to login every 30 mins - worked for a while and then it failed.
Report abuse. It is no longer possible to login with just your username and password (Basic Authentication) and you'll need to use OAuth 2.0 instead. Thunderbird has made various changes to their OAuth 2.0 implementation to make the switch easier but ran into same issues and has been releasing several updates to solve these.

Thunderbird Login. I'm trying to set up Thunderbird for 4 outlook.com accounts. Two are Hotmail and two are OUTLOOK.com accounts (a.k.a. Live). I get an " Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." message. I have logged directly into Outlook.com with this password so I know that is correct.
