I mailed something at the post office and was given a tracking number. I went to the tracking site and entered the tracking number. It directed me to a "free package tracker" software package. I went to install it and on the final step, I got the following message! W.T. F ! It can "read...
Customer placed order on November 26th, I shipped items by USPS priority mail, on the 27th. Buyer contacted me yesterday, checking if the tracking number was correct, it was. USPS tracking shows item "in-transit running late" . Customer contacted post office, was told package in-transit and to wait, nothing could be done on postal end at this ...
The USPS puts the added cost of the different levels of tracking back on the consumer ~ while constantly advancing the technology. I just saw that the cost of USPS Priority Mail is going up. I did not see whether the cost of First Class Package shipping is going up. Those package tracking barcodes are not inexpensive.
Conversation Maker. 12-22-202004:39 PM. @SteezyBags The lengthy tracking delays seem to be a current issue due to USPS being overwhelmed. In the past, my tracking would update the same day, or at the very latest, the next day.
USPS show the item as being in the possession of a facility in Michigan as of today (May 19). This package is en route to Florida and shows as In-Transit in the system. The customer contactacted me on May 16th saying that it was to be delivered on Friday May 15, not sure where he got this information from as it is not in the USPS system that way.

Good Morning. I have a lovely customer who is trying to figure out where to pick up her package from USPS. In Canada we get a notice and it tells us where to pick up, sometimes local post office, sometimes a substation in a local business. She was tracking her package online and an update said delivered.
Conversation Maker. 05-26-202107:31 PM. It was probably picked up by the truck that takes parcels from the different post offices, etc. to the closest shorting center. If the sorting centers are short of help packages don't always get scanned, just sorted and sent on their was to destination.
08-08-202009:33 AM. USPS has always recycled numbers. Some tracking numbers were never used for various reasons, messed up form, still sitting in someone's shipping room and waiting to be used, etc. Eventually, they are all recycled. The problem seems to be etsy dredging them up and sending messages to old customers when the numbers are reused ...
Yesterday I received two packages. One shipped on 17 October and it did not arrive until 4 December. Following the USPS Tracking program it looks like it sat somewhere for over 6 weeks before moving forward. 6 weeks from Illinois to Massachusetts. The second package shipped last week from Washington state, arrived 4 Dec.
