It seems that periodically there are incompatibilities with Windows updates and the app for WeatherBug and when they happen users are left with waiting for WeatherBug to update the app or for the next Windows update to helpfully be compatible again with the current version of the app. Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site.
I decided to remove WeatherBug from my computer. I had been thinking about it anyway, as the local temperature they gave had often been wrong, by as many as ten degrees, for several months. Installing the desktop version of Weatherbug may produce better results. Keep in mind that the free Weatherbug is supported by ads.

Press Windows + Q, search for the Weather app, right-click on it, and then click the Pin to taskbar. However, this is not going to actively show you the temperature as this is the app you are pinning to the taskbar. You can only get that temperature update on the Widget. Some years ago, the stand-alone package was alleged to contain spyware -- it was reclassified as adware (the embedded ad that came with the free version). I wouldn't worry about it.
