Jasper County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 32,980. [1] Its county seat is Jasper. [2] The county was created as a municipality in Mexico in 1834, and in 1837 was organized as a county in the Republic of Texas. The Jasper County Courthouse in Jasper, Texas is a building from 1889. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 6, 1984. [1] The courthouse was designed by Eugene T. Heiner in an Italianate style with clock tower. It was stuccoed and altered when additions were added in 1934 giving the building a Neoclassical look.
