Noticed our Sam's Club was clearing out the 2000 Joseph Phelps Merlot, but they also had a handful of the 1999 vintage-- picked up several bottles of the '99 for $14.81 a bottle.

  5. First Trip to Napa - need some help please | Wine Spectator...

    forums.winespectator.com/topic/first-trip-to-napa-need...

100% this. I’ve done this before but I wasn’t the person who arranged it. I do know this is actually pretty common in the area and several companies offer this. Airport to hotel may be trickier, though. Might want to rent 4 budget cars to make the drive, then use van/mini-bus service in Napa. SFO to Napa is a trek.

    forums.winespectator.com/topic/australian-wildfires...

I didn't anticipate it would get this bad but it's hitting Yarra Valley (as reported by WS ) including some of the bigger and beautiful estates like Yering Station and Domaine Chandon. Can some of our Aussie friends in Victoria shed some more light on what's happening there now? I was there last year and visited some of the wineries there that are now being affected. Yarra Valley is one of the ...

  8. '01 Columbia Crest Reserve Syrah | Wine Spectator Forums

    forums.winespectator.com/topic/01-columbia-crest-reserve-syrah

Saw PSirah's note here and couldn't agree more. Soft, jammy syrah w/plenty of blackberry fruit; smooth, well integrated tannins, and a long, spicy-smoky finish. 92 pts.; I paid $26 in Atlanta at a higher-end wineshop (which isn't a bad price, either)...would be a steal at PSirah's Costco price of $22. forums.winespectator.com/topic/tn-1999-penfolds-bin-707...

Otis, Comparing my 1st TN's to my 2nd, I can't help but wonder about the shipping woes that the distributor was telling us about at the tasting on Friday. The first wine did taste duller, perhaps it was slightly cooked. VM

I've just recently come across several OZ wines with the term "basket press" on their labels. Does anyone know what (if any) meaning this has?
