Go to desktop mode. Download the launcher. Add the executable to steam as a non-steam game. Run and install. Then install GTA from the launcher. Add GTA as a non-steam game. You can remove the launcher now if you like. Boot back into SteamOS. Change properties on GTA to run on proton experimental.
and go to documents and delete the rockstar games map. now clean your trashbin on the bureaublad. restart your pc, now install the rockstar launcher dont check the box start after installations. now go to settings/update and security/windows security/firewall-and network security and click on allow a app through the firewall.
That doesn't seem to only apply to Windows 7/8 though. Bruh they added the Rockstar Games Launcher post-launch to a lot of their games, and now they're removing support for older operating systems. It's like Rockstar wants to make their games difficult to play. Pirate versions still work though ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯.
Rockstar Launcher failed to initialize. Hey there, I was trying to play some GTA V today, and saw it needed an update (im on steam btw), so I updated. but when I tried to open the game a little alert popped up saying "rockstar launcher failed to initialize". I pressed ok, and the next alert said "gta v could not open, try reinstalling".
